01 / Decisions
Four separate questions
Ask about domestic allowance, maximum or managed speed, fair-use conditions and overseas limits. A plan can remove a domestic volume cap while retaining other rules. Read the current policy for the product, especially where the connection will be used heavily.
An app-specific data benefit is narrower than general unlimited data. External links, background activity and subscriptions may be treated differently. Identify what your phone actually does.
02 / Decisions
Test the intended workload
A video meeting depends on upload quality and stability, not just downloads. Gaming can be sensitive to latency. Cloud backup can sustain usage for longer than a short speed test.
For tethering or router use, confirm permission and compatibility. Mobile service is not automatically a substitute for every feature of fixed broadband.
03 / Decisions
Choose proportionately
Compare several months of usage and account for planned changes in routine. A large allowance that leaves an essential coverage requirement unresolved is not a complete solution.
Keep optional benefits separate from necessities. The aim is a suitable service with understood boundaries, not the longest list of features.
