Background: a brand is not the same as a contract
Three launched in the UK in 2003. That is historical context, not evidence of today’s reception at a particular address. Its corporate relationship with Vodafone also does not tell you which roaming arrangement your own line has. For an existing customer, the account’s plan name and agreement date are more useful than a general company description.
A new customer should establish whether the order is for phone airtime, SIM-only, prepaid service or mobile broadband. These products can carry different terms even when the same logo appears on the page. Keep the actual order summary rather than a screenshot of a headline.

SIM-only, prepaid and the meaning of a month
For SIM-only, compare the commitment and allowance independently. A large allowance does not necessarily justify a long agreement if your job or address may change. For prepaid service, establish whether payment buys an expiring pack, tops up a balance or authorises another renewal.
Three publishes a prepaid roaming eSIM route with data packs and an overseas allowance. That can be relevant to a second line, but the pack is not a promise that every existing Three plan has identical travel features. Check the plan selected at the official checkout.

Phones: distinguish an upgrade from settlement
A handset offer can involve a separate financial commitment, a trade-in and an airtime plan. Ask what remains owed if the line leaves early and whether an upgrade depends on returning the old phone. Device condition can matter to a trade-in assessment.
Make a personal inventory before replacement: photos, authenticator apps, banking access, contacts and recovery email. Moving the mobile number does not automatically move all of these. Test the replacement phone before wiping the original.

eSIM: activation is only one milestone
Use the instructions for the exact Three product and handset model. Have working internet available during installation. A digital profile appearing in settings proves that a profile was installed; it does not by itself prove that incoming calls or a number transfer work.
After setup, test a normal incoming call, an outgoing text and a small mobile-data task. If two lines are installed, label them and check which supplies data. Do not repeatedly remove an eSIM when an activation error has not yet been explained.

Go Roam: read the entitlement, not just the map
Three’s current Go Roam information describes Europe, Around the World and Around the World Extra bands. It states an overseas data allowance of up to 12GB in its general explanation; actual eligibility depends on the product. The destination checker and your account entitlement should be read together.
For a multi-country journey, include airport stops and crossings. Ask what activates a pass and how the charging day is defined. Domestic unlimited data does not remove a roaming fair-use allowance. Shipboard or aircraft connectivity should be checked separately from the country nearby.

Broadband and unlimited data at home
Assess a Three broadband product at the service address using the intended router. A phone held outside a window is not a substitute for a router test in the room where you will work. Evening capacity, upload stability and latency can matter more than a peak download result.
Establish equipment-return requirements and whether the connection supports your work applications. If a phone SIM will be used for tethering instead, read its permitted-use policy. Similar data allowances do not make a phone line and a home-broadband agreement interchangeable.

Bills, app access and leaving
Reach the Three app or My3 from the official domain. Use it to identify the actual line and download available records. A bill discrepancy needs a date and a line item: airtime, a device payment, roaming or an extra. Explain that distinction when asking Three to investigate.
If keeping the number, arrange a PAC transfer through the receiving provider. Keep the Three line active until the transfer is arranged; separately clarify any remaining device or broadband obligations. A final statement can arrive after the number has moved.

Where it may fit—and where to be cautious
Three may be relevant for a reader whose important locations test well and whose selected package matches the intended data and travel use. It needs more investigation if indoor reception is essential but untested, or if a broadband decision rests on a single phone speed test.
For a fault, identify whether the failure affects voice, texts, data or everything. Calls failing while data works can point to calling compatibility or provisioning. Slowness only in a crowded location suggests a different investigation. These are diagnostic possibilities, not measured claims about every Three customer.
